Beasts of Bouldering

Several years ago, when I first got into climbing, I remembered when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s and baseball was the sport. We had baseball cards, and new the names and stats of all of our favorite players. Between the baseball cards, shirts, posters, VHS tapes, these players’ images were plastered everywhere and it was a great contribution to the sport’s popularity, but also to encouraging us to get out and play - looking to emulate these icons. I made these Beasts of Bouldering videos as my attempt to contribute to the sport of climbing in the same way.

Alex Megos was the first climber on record to on-sight a 5.14D, although he is probably more known for his outdoor bouldering problems, including boulder problems with a confirmed v15 rating.

He currently holds the high point of Black Diamond's The Project, widely considered one of the world's hardest indoor routes, and has finished in the top three numerous times in the IFSC and La Sportiva’s Legends Competition. Alex won gold in the 2018 Briancon World Cup.

Beasts of Bouldering: Shauna Coxsey Part TWO. She won the Bouldering World Cup in 2016 and 2017, among a number of other accomplishments. I did not intend to edit a "part two" for Shauna Coxsey (I have a few other climbers in queue,) but when I got back to the Beasts of Bouldering hard drive, I had twenty minutes of great, unused, Shauna footage on the timeline, so I had to cut another video.

Jan Hojer

Jason Mamoa

Jason Momoa is a beast who happens to boulder, and a positive force for climbing as a sport. A worthy contender for an episode where we stray away from IFSC champions, and outdoor mold breakers, and first ascents. He is not at the skill level of other climbers on this list, but has done a lot to bring the sport into the public eye, while adventuring with Christ Sharma.
